Kayla Kratz, Behr’s Sr. Director of Color and Design Strategy, said that choosing Grounded was a balancing act to find the right shade of green, and it’s a natural progression from their 2026 Color of the Year, Hidden Gem.
Kratz noted that Grounded is a complex neutral rooted in nature, making it a great option for those looking for a “living neutral” that’s both interesting and versatile.
The creation of Grounded was a deliberate process, as Behr typically chooses an existing color from their catalog as the Color of the Year. However, for 2027, Kratz said it felt more natural to create a new color, which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the brand’s Color of the Year selection.

Behr showcased Grounded on various surfaces, including exterior siding, living room walls, kitchen cabinetry, and window trim, demonstrating its versatility and potential uses.
